Not long ago, a worn knee or an aching shoulder left two choices: cover the pain with medication, or go under the knife for things like meniscus damage, rotator cuff tears and arthritis. Today there is a better option.
SoftWave is an FDA-cleared shockwave therapy that sends broad-focused acoustic waves deep into the joint. Those waves increase blood flow, reduce inflammation and call the body's own stem cells and growth factors to the damaged tissue, so the joint can genuinely heal instead of simply being numbed.
Dr. Matt Chenault, D.C. uses it every week on knees, shoulders, hips, elbows and ankles here in Greenville. Patients are in and out in about 15 minutes, back to the day with no recovery period, and most feel the difference building over a short series of sessions.

The same technology used by leading medical centers and professional sports teams.
Completely non-invasive. Nothing to recover from and nothing to wean off of.
Quick sessions with no downtime. Drive in, get treated, get on with the day.
SoftWave stimulates repair in the damaged tissue rather than masking the pain for a few hours.
Dr. Chenault evaluates the joint first and says plainly whether SoftWave is a good fit.
A local clinic on East Harris Avenue that can usually see new patients the same day.
A handheld applicator sends broad-focused shockwaves into the painful joint, reaching tissue other devices cannot.
The waves trigger increased blood flow and call the body's stem cells and growth factors to the damaged area.
Across a short series of sessions the tissue rebuilds and the pain steadily fades, because the cause is being treated, not just the symptom.
Dr. Chenault works the SoftWave applicator around the knee and talks through what it is doing as he goes.
“I went to see Dr. Matt for knee pain and he was very informative, very patient, and did reduce my knee pain. Highly recommend for knee, foot or shoulder pain.”
“Dr. Chenault and his staff are amazing. The suite of services offered is the best approach I have ever found. In addition to the fantastic chiropractic care, I highly recommend the hands-on service and the SoftWave technology. A frozen shoulder and a really bad knee were no match for it!”
“In 2016 I broke my tibia and had to wear a brace on my knee. Since coming to Greenville Rehab and getting adjusted and doing SoftWave treatment, I can walk and climb stairs the right way. It's been 8 years. A big thank you to the staff!”
“I have only had one treatment from them but my pain level went from a 10 to a 2. I have done many things to get this better and none worked at this level. The SoftWave they use works for me. Thanks so much!”
We can help calm the pain and stiffness before they get worse. Request a consultation, or call the clinic and talk to a real person.

Most patients describe it as a tapping or pulsing feeling that is easy to tolerate. The intensity is adjusted for comfort, and there is no anesthesia and no needle.
It depends on the joint and how long it has been hurting, but a typical plan runs 6 to 8 short sessions. Dr. Chenault gives a clear recommendation after the evaluation, and says plainly if SoftWave is not the right fit.
Some patients feel relief after the first visit or two. For others it builds steadily over the series as the tissue repairs. Either way, there is no downtime between sessions.
Many of the knees and shoulders we treat with SoftWave have arthritis or cartilage wear behind them. SoftWave does not replace a joint, but by reducing inflammation and stimulating repair in the surrounding tissue it often eases the pain, swelling and stiffness that come with it. The consultation is where Dr. Chenault gives an honest read on a specific joint.
Plenty of patients come in looking for an option to try before committing to surgery or a lifetime of pain medication. SoftWave is non-invasive, so trying it first does not close any doors. If a case is beyond what it can help, Dr. Chenault will say so.
Same-day appointments available. Request a SoftWave consultation above, or call (618) 300-5650.
